Happy Mothers Day
Mom,
Thank you for making me the woman I am. By changing religions, from catholic to Jehovah's Witness, and sticking to the religion despite the abuse you received from Dad, you taught me that you should stand by what you believe in and not care what others think about you. Although I didn't live up to your expectation, by your actions, you have set a good role model for me to follow, to live boldly and courageously. Dad would say you brought our family shame by switching religions, but you stuck to that religion, and I don't blame you. You are a pillar in the organization and have recruited over 100 people. Everyone in the religion praises you for your zealous nature of dedicating your life to it. I get it, Mom; you wanted to be more than what is typical for women in our culture, and being a Jehovah's Witness has allowed you to be that. You have chosen what makes you happy, and I have found what makes me happy. Thank you for separating yourself from me. It has allowed me to fully heal my deep wound from never being good enough for you. I am good enough for myself now, and that's all that matters. My life is full of joy, peace, and so many adventures. I am doing what I feel like I'm put on this earth for a living, and it has brought me so much satisfaction. I feel whole and am loved by so many.
I think about you all the time.
I love you,
your youngest daughter
